Episcopal Visit and Confirmation January 23rd

The Right Reverend Derek LS Jones will make an Episcopal Visit to All Saints on Sunday, January 23rd. He will confirm and receive new members at the 11:15 AM service.

There will be a reception for the Bishop at Koinonia at 6 PM that evening.

New members who have been confirmed in the Episcopal Church, Anglican Church, Roman Catholic Church, or Eastern Orthodox Church will be received by the laying on of hands. Other new members will be confirmed.

Members being confirmed who have not completed the Salt and Light course, please sign up for the next class (to be announced soon).

Those being received or confirmed should complete the form below no later than January 16th so your certificate can be completed properly.

Bishop Jones’ complete bio

The Right Reverend Derek LS Jones is ”Bishop Suffragan for Chaplaincies” in the Anglican Church in North America under Archbishop Robert Duncan.  

Bishop Jones provides official/formal ecclesiastical endorsement of Chaplains serving in the United States Military; Veteran’s Administration; Department of Justice; hospitals and hospice-care agencies; law enforcement agencies; and community, industrial, and educational settings. He also provides oversight to several mission parishes for CANA.

Bishop Jones retired as a senior officer from the United States Air Force. Renowned for his skills as a fighter pilot and recipient of numerous awards, Bishop Jones has been interviewed for many media publications and is the pictorial subject for a book on the F-111.

A 1983 graduate from Samford University with a B.S. in Mathematics, Bishop Jones obtained his Masters from Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham, Alabama (2001). He entered full-time ministry in 1997 with a protestant faith group, but returned to his Anglican roots in 2000. He was ordained as a priest in July 2001 and consecrated to the Episcopate in January 2007.

Bishop Jones is married to the former Connie Lee of Birmingham, Alabama. Connie  also serves in full-time ministry as the Associate Executive Director and Nurse Manager of Sav-a-Life, a pro-life ministry and medical clinic. Derek and Connie make their home in Montevallo, Alabama.
