All Saints Outreach Work Day & Street Ministry

May 4, 2011

Join us Saturday, May 7th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Ballard Hall for Outreach Work Day.

We will be assembling All Saints Blessing Bags and Hygiene Kits for San Antonio’s homeless. Our goal is to assemble 100 bags and 100 hygiene kits each.

You can also learn how to crochet sleeping mats for the homeless from plastic bags and/or help assist in preparing the bags.

We are seeking donations of plastic bags, money, and/or items that are part of the contents of the blessing bags and hygiene kits.

We also need volunteers to assist with street ministry to the homeless on Sunday, May 8, at 1:00 PM in downtown San Antonio.  Volunteers will assist with distribution of the All Saints Blessing Bags, Hygiene Kits and Sleeping Mats made during the  All Saints Outreach Work Day. We’ll be leaving from the church shortly after the 11:15 am service.

National Day of Prayer in San Antonio

May 3, 2011

San Antonio will participate in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5th.

The details are shown on the San Antonio National Day of Prayer website:

Join hundreds of Believers at the Steps of City Hall on Thursday, May 5th at Noon as we worship, pray and seek the Lord’s will for our city and cry out for His mercy upon our nation.

Arrive by 11:30 for pre-service music led by Community Bible Church. Come early and stay late as God would lead you. Our country needs you to intercede for our needy land.

The official prayer for the day was written by Joni Eareckson Tada – 2011 Honorary Chairman.

Almighty God,

You are our Mighty Fortress, our refuge and the God in whom we place our trust. As our nation faces great distress and uncertainty, we ask your Holy Spirit to fall afresh upon your people — convict us of sin and inflame within us a passion to pray for our land and its people. Grant the leaders of our country an awareness of their desperate need of wisdom and salvation in You until sin becomes a reproach to all and righteousness exalts this nation.

Protect and defend us against our enemies and may the cause of Christ always prevail in our schools, courts, homes, and churches. Lord God, send a spirit of revival and may it begin in our own hearts.

Remember America, we pray. Remember the foundations on which this country was built. Remember the prayers of our nation’s fathers and mothers, and do not forget us in our time of need.

In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
